The Testing Process
The process is the same for all tests and is very simple. To order a test, simply go to Orders page and place your order. After we receive your order we will mail you a saliva collection package. Saliva sample collection is a painless procedure, which takes about 5 minutes to complete. It can be done at home, there is no blood draw and there is no need to go to a laboratory or a clinic. Your saliva sample will then be shipped to our contracted laboratory for DNA extraction and genotyping. Genotyping is a process which allows to read genetic information contained in your DNA.
What is in the Box
The package contains everything that is needed for collecting saliva sample, detailed instructions on how to collect and ship your sample, a consent form and a prepaid envelope for shipping (US customers only). One copy of the consent form must be signed by the person who is providing the sample for testing and returned with the sample in order for us to analyze your DNA. You can preview the consent form here.
Results
Typically it takes 4 to 6 weeks to process your sample, review genetic information and prepare a report. Test results consist of genetic code information that we will communicate to you. This information is highly personal and unique to you. Depending on your choice, we will examine genetic codes of pertinent genes. We will report results to you along with an explanation of what they mean. This explanation is based on research studies and we will include references to these studies in the report. All reports are prepared individually by a physician upon careful review of your data and relevant scientific information. Should you have questions or would like to discuss your results, a physician specialist will be available to discuss your results over the phone at no extra charge. To facilitate clinical decision making, you may decide to discuss your genetic test results with your health care provider. If you live in California (or are willing to travel to California) you may request an office appointment with a specialist physician Board-certified in Psychiatry and Neurology by writing to us. There may be additional fee for the visit. Please contact us if you would like to request this service.
Confidentiality
Results will be mailed directly to you and will remain completely confidential. Since we do not keep consumer genetic test or other data in our database after the results have been delivered to the consumer, and there are no third parties (e.g. insurance companies) involved, we can guarantee the highest possible level of confidentiality. Read more about our Privacy Policy. A detailed description of Disclaimers could be found here.
